Yoga & Myofascial Release for Pelvic floor health
The pelvic floor is an integral part of our core, movement, breathing, continence and overall wellbeing. Yet pelvic floor health is often approached in a very one-dimensional way.
This online workshop offers a practical, embodied exploration of the pelvic floor — from anatomy and physiology to myofascial release, movement to enhance awareness and function.
You’ll be guided through accessible practices that help you sense the pelvic floor in your own body, understand how it responds to different positions and movements, and recognise the different patterns that may contribute to pelvic floor dysfunction.
What we’ll explore
🌿 Anatomy, physiology & function
Understand the structure of the female pelvic floor and its role within the wider body and core.
🌿 The abdominal canister & positioning
Explore how breathing, posture and body position can influence pelvic floor engagement and pressure management.
🌿 Awareness through movement
Practise sensing and exploring the pelvic floor in different postures and everyday movements through guided self-practice.
🌿 Breathing, Speech & hypermobility
Consider how factors such as speech, breath, pressure and hypermobility may influence pelvic floor function.
🌿 Recognise different patterns of pelvic floor dysfunction
Learn how to identify common signs associated with both underactive (hypotonic) and overactive (hypertonic) pelvic floor patterns and explore basic approaches to assess pain-related presentations, urinary symptoms, prolapse and bowel dysfunction.
🌿 Compassionate Self-reflection
Consider pregnancy-specific changes and develop a more individualised and compassionate approach to female pelvic floor health.
🌿 Therapeutic yoga & Myofascial release as targeted practices
Discover movement and yoga-based approaches that can support different pelvic floor needs, with guidelines for a too weak or too tight pelvic floor.
🌿 Everyday support & referral
Explore lifestyle considerations, when further assessment may be appropriate, and how to recognise when referral to an appropriately qualified healthcare professional is needed.
A course for learning through the body
This is not simply an anatomy lecture.
Through guided movement and self-practice, you’ll have opportunities to feel, observe and reflect on how your own pelvic floor responds — helping to connect the theoretical understanding with lived experience.
The intention is to develop greater body awareness, confidence and understanding, rather than encouraging a one-size-fits-all approach to pelvic floor health.
